War and Peace

Saturday, november 12, 2016 at 7 pm
River Road Church Baptist
8000 River Road, richmond

War and Peace was envisioned after witnessing the tragic events across our nation this summer.  OVC will present Franz Josef Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, also known as the “Lord Nelson Mass”, and Zoltan Kodály’s Missa Brevis.  The pieces are representations of each composer’s attempt to grapple with the political and social upheavals they were experiencing in their respective eras.

Let my People go!

SATURDAY, March 18, 2017 AT 7 PM
FIRST BAPTIST Church
2709 Monument Ave. Richmond, VA 23220

Contemporary composer Robert Ray is a champion of music that celebrates the African American heritage. His Gospel Mass, in addition to the music of Moses Hogan, Rollo Dilworth, and Rosephanye Powell among others shapes our African American experience concert, "Let My People Go." The mission of One Voice Chorus Richmond (OVC) - promoting racial reconciliation and harmony - remains relevant and we dedicate this concert to our continued effort to singing the "beauty and power of diversity."
